Homeschool Consultations
The process begins with an extensive questionnaire process. My recommendations will be personalized for your child and your family. Personalized means personalized: I even recommended to one mom that she allow her son to have the iguana he desperately wanted. (Ask me why.)
In a complete curriculum consultation by phone, of up to 2 hours, I will recommend individual resources that meet your child's specific learning needs and your needs as the parent/ teacher. I will tell you how exactly how to modify those resources to use with a student with dyslexia. I will also teach you evidence-based teaching strategies that work. We will discuss engaging, creative resources and ideas to reignite your child's love of learning. Teaching Ideas often include memory strategies, math strategies for all the typical issues for a child with dyslexia, game ideas for reading tutoring, how to teach reading comprehension when your student is not reading yet, and more. You will also receive multiple hand-outs as needed for your situation. Most important is that all information is based on an accurate, up-to-date understanding of dyslexia. |

"I am happy to report it is working."I struggled for many years with trying to figure out why my son was having such difficulty reading and therefore learning. I had him to several professionals (all of which had doctorate degrees) trying to find out how I could help him and/or get help for him. Not one of these individuals was able to offer much help. I spoke with Carol about it and she took the time to work with us to identify the problem and to direct me in to what would help him to succeed. I am very happy to report that it is working. We could not have done this without her expertise, abundant wealth of knowledge, patience and experience.
